McALLEN, TEXAS (September 10, 2018)—The American Civil Rights Union entered a comprehensive settlement agreement with Starr County, Texas, to clean up and maintain the county’s voter registration rolls under the National Voter Registration Act of 1993 (ACRU v. Rodriguez et. al. 7:16-cv-00103).

JACKSON, MS. (January 25, 2017) — Election officials in Mississippi’s Noxubee County, long known for corrupt election practices, signed a court-approved consent decree on Jan. 24 with the American Civil Rights Union (ACRU), agreeing to clean up and maintain the county’s voter rolls.
The ACRU had filed a lawsuit in November 2015 with evidence that the county had more registered voters than legally eligible residents and had not maintained its voter rolls as required by the National Voter Registration Act (Motor Voter Law). During at least three recent elections (2010, 2012 and 2014) the county had well over 100 percent registration rates.

ACRU v. Zavala County (TX) — Settlement

SANDERSON, TEXAS (January 18, 2016) — The United States District Court in Del Rio, Texas, has entered a settlement requiring a Texas county to maintain clean voter rolls. Zavala County had more registered voters than age-eligible residents. The ACRU had sued the county under the National Voter Registration Act’s Section 8.

ACRU v. Clarke County (MS) — Consent Decree

ALEXANDRIA, VA (Nov. 30, 2015) – The American Civil Rights Union (ACRU) has settled a federal lawsuit against the Clarke County, Mississippi Election Commission, marking the third time a Mississippi county has agreed by consent decree to clean up its voter rolls.
In July, ACRU, represented by the Public Interest Legal Foundation (PILF), sued the county for having more voters on the rolls than living citizens. The lawsuit, filed by PILF and Mississippi attorney Henry Ross, alleged a violation of Section 8 of the National Voter Registration Act (NVRA), which requires maintenance of accurate voter rolls.

HATTIESBURG, MS (Sept. 4, 2013) — Walthall County, Mississippi officials were sued in April by the American Civil Rights Union (ACRU) under the National Voter Registration Act of 1993 (“Motor Voter”) for having more registered voters than voting-age-eligible residents.
Today, the parties have settled the case. The United States District Court for the Southern District of Mississippi entered a final consent decree that requires the defendants to clean up the county’s voter rolls.
